“The end of 2024 will be a pivotal time for the EU and the rest of the world and set the stage for the next five years. Notably, we need to build up our defence capabilities and resilience while increasing the competitiveness of our economy in a sustainable way. Cleantech can play a central role in overcoming these challenges as it has the potential to increase the resilience of our energy, resource and supply chains and support the development of the defence sector. We can be proud and happy from the side of the Baltics as all the commissioners-designates from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are connected to cleantech in one way or another. While clean industry, competitiveness and resilience are becoming the biggest European topics, the Member States must now also put effort in defining their interests and shaping their national policies to work in tandem with these goals. Some of the challenges and opportunities mentioned in this briefing can help guide these discussions.” – Kädi Ristkok, Executive Director of Cleantech for Baltics
